Long Stitich
I am new to cross stitch, I just review one of the charts that my friend gave me.It said "all outlines are in long stitch, not back stitch", what does it mean? I didn't find much on youtube for this.... It means the stitches are longer to stretch across a larger area. If it's not to be framed I tack down the longer stitch in the middle to keep it from being snagged, just don't pullthe holding stitch too tight as it will make a jog in the long stitch. A long stitch is used when the stitch doesn't follow the corner to corner of the cross stitches. In other words, the stitch may go one across but two down ..... or two down and three across. I found a couple of pictures but this site won't allow me to post links or URL addresses. One site is the Vermillion Stitchery but I got to it from a Google search of "long stitch directions for cross stitching" and I don't know how to get to it from their home page. Another site was Heritage Crafts (hcrafts.com) and going to the "site map" at bottom of page then Counted Cross Stitch Tutorials in the left column. Long stitch is at the very bottom of that page. static/image/common/user_online.gif CraftyLouAnna static/image/common/clock.gif 2014-3-17 05:18 static/image/common/back.gifIt means the stitches are longer to stretch across a larger area.
