Tab Cast On
The pattern will tell you how many stitches to cast on. For this tutorial, we’ll cast on 3 and pick up 5.Cast on 3 sts. Use any cast on method you like. Just know that you’ll have to pick up these sts when you’re done. Some just do a regular CO and others do a provisional CO
Knit 10 rows. These are all garter stitch, so you’ll have 5 purl bumps along the side. Don’t turn after completing the last row.
Instead, rotate the work 90 degrees clockwise and pick up one stitch in each of the purl bumps along the side.
Now you’re back at the cast on row.
Pick up 3 sts from the cast on row. I typically do this all in 2 steps because it can be fiddly.
Step 1 – pick up the sts. Don’t work them, just pick them up.
Step 2 – return the sts back to the left-hand needle and work them.
After they’ve all been picked up and worked.
Here it is after you work a few rows.
