Holding Yarn in left hand vs right hand

I am left handed, but knit right handed. I want to learn to crochet, but I can't get the hang of holding the yarn in my left and and the hook on my right. Can I switch them without too much trouble or is it like knitting left handed (complicated conversions)? Thank you in advance.

You should be find crocheting left handed. It is a matter of remembering what is the front and what is the back when you do.On something like a blanket or scarf, it won't make any difference.By the time you are working on a garment if you choose to so do, you'll have figured it out.   I have taught several left handers to crochet and also to knit. All of the lefties knit right handed, and it is about 50/50 of the lefties who crochet lefty and crochet righty.   All you need is the desire to do it, and you're golden. :)

I'm a left handed crocheter. I hold the hook in my left, yarn in the right. I don't have trouble following patterns as long as i remember two things: 1 - amigurumi patterns need to turned inside out and 2 most other patterns are backwards. Just remember which side is the right stitch. Hope that helps :)

What you want is the continental version of knitting which is all left handed.....rather than the throwing of the yarn which is more Canadian or american right handed....if you can learn to do both it's a great way to do fairisle or patterns that require more than one colour

I would say if it is easier to you, learn to crochet right handed as you learned to knit.I am a lefty myself.I feel your pain.Hang in there and I say if the results are the same, who cares which road we take to arrive! :)

I am a lefty too. I knit right handed and crochet left. I have found a lot of the videos do both ways (the crochet crowd) on you tube. Otherwise I just reverse it.
