How to color the fabric

I have just figured that some works have the background coloured.
I have AIDA fabric, and I want to know if there is some tip for dying it, without messing it up.
I heard that you can dye it with tea, but I want it to be in different colours. Any idea?

I want it to be something like the cushion one.

I use normal fabric dyes and follow their instructions. Even when washing my work when finished it doesn't run

You can use Rit Dye.

I know that there exists special anilines in the commerce in order to change fabric colors, I haven't try, but you could test with a little piece.

I think I'll try with diluted fabric colours "pébéo", in a small piece. I don't want the fabric to be dyed with one colour only, so I'll try to paint it with a brush.
If it works, I'll post here.
Thanks!

There are several natural colourers, such as onions, beets, tea grass or like...
I have got a friend who dies lovely fabrics. :)

I like use tea and coffee (strong ) ... put the fabric inside the pan with the coffee/tea .... let boiling for 30 minutes .... turn off and cover ... let this way until next day .... after that .... you DO NOT WASH!!! .. only squizze and let dry ... out of the sun ... after that iron and begin the pattern!!!

Yes, I heard about dying with tea and coffee, but I never heard about using vegetables...they resist the washing?
But if they work, I think that's a good idea using an ecologic way to dye fabrics.

you can put 1 /2 cup of salt , let stay for 10 minutes before squizze ... salt fix the color ... include vegetables and fruits ... I already use juice of grapes.

Fruits have sugar .... you do this:
10 minutes with salt ..... wash with no much more water... for take off the sugar ... after that .... put to dry.

I've tried once with fabric painting materials and it works. I only work with frames for this kind of fabric and never ever wash it.

if you use the salt .....or the fabric fixyou can wash once at least after finish for frame ....

I use fabric paints. I dilute them with water. Then paint the fabric.

Just about any time you add color to fabric it makes is impossible to be able to wash it.
