It is a huge deal, I felt the same when I read about it and have been doing it ever since, its just so easy and makes the backs a little neater.

Good technique.  I use it 50:50 with another no-knots technique.

I do a loop thread start too. It is so much easier and neater to use.

I've always used the loop start method! Practically since my first kit I've just decided that it would be easier to do it this way. I didn't realize that there was a 'method' or a name for it though. I just thought it made sense to do it this way as you reduce the tug and drag on the thread, and you get more thread out of the same length. ;P
