What exactly is a repaint chart

Hi, sorry if I am going over old ground.
What exactly is a repaint chart.  I often see charts available which states they have been repainted.  The picture on display looks exactly the same as the original chart.

Can someone explain what exactly is it?  Have the colours been changed or the design changed - also if there is only one colour involved how can it be changed as surely this is just a case of stitching in a different colour.

I am very confused.

Help would be appreciated.

A repaint is an electronic version of a scanned chart, created by special software. The quality of the repaints is very often far superior to the scanned version. You can make modifications to the repaint to suit your needs. I think the term "repaint" may be a little confusing to people who are new to this site. Just think of it as a chart that has been "re -painted" (or re-created) with a computer.

I was trying to do a repaint but its a lot of work now I understand the prices for them.
And yes I think they are better than pdf I use Crossty on iPad and they only read pat or xsd files and it works like a charm so easy to work with. A big Thank you for the ones who maken them.

repaint patterns are much better but I'm not always certain about the accuracy of colors. started a new one yesterday and crossing my fingers that the colors will turn out fine
